Have you ever wondered what would Paris be like without all the cafés and their lovely terrasses? Would its streets be just as animated and cheerful, bustling and full of energy?
I dare say that not. Imagine Paris without it and most of you will admit that it probably wouldn't be the way that we know it, a city that it's very easy to fall in love with.
Vibrant awnings, colorful, braided chairs and those stylish, little tables always put so very close to each other - together with a smell and taste of good, aromatic coffee or hot chocolate it creates an intangible feeling, hard to put into words. All this encourages conversations and exchange of ideas, quite often even between total strangers.
There are literally hundreds of such places in the French capital. Countless cafés and brasseries tempt passers-by with their warmth, delicious scent and liveliness.
As a photographer I often question myself how this diversity and charm can be rendered on a picture. I still I don't have an answer to that, but I try pretty hard to bring it to life. Strolling around Paris I soak up its unique atmosphere, and from time to time I take a photo. While trying to grasp the secret of this city and convey it through my images, I'm convinced that some part of it, a kind of timelessness is hidden in those special places..
